Spring Break: Part II

The Reston Zoo was recommended by two of my friends the week prior to spring break and since I'm intimidated by going into DC (to National Zoo) by myself, this sounded like a fantastic option. 

 It was a little pricey and really more of a glorified petting zoo than anything, but it turned out to be perfect for our little people! Ironically, Porter was invited to go to National Zoo with a friend right before we left that morning so we missed having him with us, but he had fun on his adventure too. We saw many varieties of goats, hogs, sheep, chickens, tortises, peacocks, prarie dogs, kangaroos, snakes, monkeys, zeebras, foxes, camels, llamas, ostriches, bison, emu, reindeer, and antelope.

 The Zoofarie Wagon ride was the highlight.  This was free (thank goodness) and we went several times.  This guys' horns were HUGE!  His name is Dr. Pepper and he was sweeter than any puppy I've ever met.  He let all the kids pet his horns and feed him.  When he gets up to walk he totally looks like he's going to fall over with that rack on top!  The funny thing was that the kids were equally interested in the poop and pee that came out of the animals while we were stopped to visit as they were with this amazingly up close experience with the enormous animals.

 Andrew decided that feeding the camels was a bit too slobbery for his liking.

 Adam was doing little, tiny waves with his hand to this snake-so cute!

 Even though she looks very unsure here, Jane was insistant that she have a picture by herself next to the python to show Daddy

 We rounded out spring break with Porter's first real soccer game.  He missed the real first one because he was at a school event and the last one he had, he wasn't allowed to play in since he didn't have cleats.  Needless to say, he now has cleats and did an awesome job assisting several goals.  Muna, Leo and I went to his game while everyone lese went canoeing with Papa.

 Leo was more interested in playing with my sunglasses and pushing the stroller around than actually watching, but he had fun too:)

And lastly, we headed up north to the temple while the kids played at Grandma and Grandpa Smyth's apartment.  We definitely don't get here often enough.  Thanks spring for a lovely break!
