Aaron is currently the cub master in our ward, so he was in charge of the pinewood derby this year. And I guess this is the only year that our big boys will both be racing together. And what a race it was! There was talk leading up to the race that dads were baking their wood and working on some pretty slick cars. Aaron's strategy is to let the boys do the body work while he takes care of the wheels.
Porter carved out a nice fin in the tail of his.
Andrew designed a sleek, pointed nose. And obviously blue is a favored color in our house!
All the little ones enjoyed racing hot wheel cars down their own little piece of track in the back.
There were 7 or 8 boys and they each got to race in several heats, but in the end Andrew came up first and Porter's won second. This was slightly embarrassing since Aaron was in charge of the whole thing, but the boys were sure excited. They gave out all kinds of awards for most artistic, most unique etc and had cute refreshment cars made from sugar wafers and junior mint wheels. All in all a great night!
