Sleepover!

A couple weeks before school started, we had sleepover week with the grandparents.  This is especially fun for the kids since we don't do sleepovers with friends.  The kids and I went up Sunday evening and had dinner with Grandma and Grandpa Smyth.

The boys played the LDS Friend website.

Then we played a few rounds of Sunday charades.

We filled just about every free inch of space with some kind of convertible bed and then some of us went to sleep and 'others' of us stayed up and goofed off.

You would think 5 kids would be enough to deflate an air bed, but it took quite a bit of maneuvering.

We were SO surprised to find out that my parents apartment is just miles away from the National Zoo, so we headed there for the next few hours.

There were lots of lions out which was awesome!

Leo was quite enthralled with this giant, old tortise.

Porter wanted to hold the elephant...

...Andrew wanted to pinch the elephant...

...and Janie wanted to poke the elephant!  The elephant didn't seem to mind:)

They've added this little splash pad by the sea lion exhibit that sends waves out from under the rocks every few minutes-it was a hit of course!

And we had to have a photo-op by the barn for Farmer Grandma.

That evening when we returned, Porter and Andrew re-packed their bags to go to Muna's house for a sleepover.  Andrew had fun playing Mario Brothers endlessly and Porter got to cook and eat fish with Muna, something he's been begging for.  I heard a few other highlights included french toast stix and the new Muppet Movie.

Then on Wednesday evening, Jane and Adam headed over to Muna's for a turn.  They came home with giant murals they had drawn with markers and talked about the 'Ugly Duckling' movie, puzzles and Darth Vader fruit snacks.  Apparently they told Muna they couldn't stay up late because "Daddy said".  We are always surprised when our kids insist on obeying our rules at other people's houses when they fight so hard against them at our own house-a funny thing!

We are definitely spoiled to have both sets of Grandparents so close to enjoy right now-the kids are in heaven!
