Halloween

Let the 3 month sugar rush begin!  I don't remember the stream of sweets being so steady when I was a kid but as a parent it seems that once we get to Halloween the candy lasts through November and then there are people giving out Christmas treats every day in December.  And we can't forget about Valentines and Easter, so really it's like a 7 month sugar rush.  But enough of that...we had a delightful mix of characters at Halloween this year.  Porter was Harry Potter, Andrew was a fancy man/professor, Jane was chose a lion, Adam was our traditional 2 year old Mushu dragon, and Leo was a pumpkin.

  We had a great time at the ward chili cook off and trunk-or-treat.  I went up at the end of the night to get just a lick of the winning chili and then found out that it's secret ingredient was mayonnaise!  I have issues with mayo and my stomach was honestly tempted to lose the rest of my chili upon hearing this news.


Jane also learned about spiders this month and made this creepy crawly hat to remember.  

 Porter was slightly bummed that we didn't get all the pumpkins (his especially) carved.  Daddy had to stay late at work and Mom is just not fast enough.  But thumbs up to Porter for helping Adam with his pumpkin!

On Halloween we were invited to a friend's home for potluck and trick-or-treating.  It was fun to hang out and be with friends but we also felt kind of bad since we had abandoned our neighborhood.  The kids did end up donating some of their candy to our wonderful bishop who invites the primary children to his office each week for a handshake and a treat.  All in all, it was a successful Halloween!
