This kid had big smile all day (even tho he had to go to school) because he was so excited for his birthday. Grandma got up early to see him off on his birthday morning since they couldn't be with us that night.
Porter had the brilliant suggestion to a candy dessert instead of cake. No one missed he cake:)
This oldest boy of ours is truly 11 years awesome! He adores his youngest brother and is so helpful with him which is a help to everyone. He has transitioned into middle school without a hitch and we are so pleased for that. He continues to love being creative with legos and family entertainment. He bares the burden of oldest child with little complaint as long as his bedtime is a few minutes past Andrew's. We love him inside and out!
Enjoying his birthday candy out of a large shell Papa gave him as a gift from a California work trip. After all the celebrating we moved to the basement for some ping pong tournaments, but those were hard to get a decent shot of.
We are also proud of Porter for his hard work in scouting. It isn't always his favorite thing to work on, but he has been diligent over the years in doing his best. At his Arrow of Light ceremony the day before his birthday (just in the nick of time-whew!), Daddy (the cubmaster) anchored his arrow at the top of a ladder and had him climb up, symbolic of his journey in scouts and the extra effort needed to earn this award.
When he reached the top, Dad told him to climb over the top and climb down the other side with the arrow in his mouth, which he started to do and would have tried had Daddy not told him he was joking--sometimes Daddy thinks of himself as pretty funny:)
