Archeology at Ferry Farm

Good morning Ferry Farm!  Andrew's Focus class got to go on an archeological fieldtrip to George Washington's boyhood home which happens to be just 20 minutes down the road from us.  This was my first fieldtrip in four years so it's about time I had a turn with Andrew.
He learned about and got to experince gridding...
...digging with a trowel and dustpan...
...sifting out the dirt to find the artifacts...
...carefully cleaning the artifacts with a toothbrush...
...and piecing artifacts together.

Before we left we got to see and stand on one of the cornerstones of George Washington's childhood home that will soon be rebuilt along the Rappahanock River.  Thanks for the fun day of learning Andrew!
