This boy (unbelievably) turned 12 this year! We celebrated with a 7:30am coffee cake before he and Dad headed out to an amusement park for the day with some almost expired coupons.
Porter and his new mineral poster.
The following Monday we celebrated the important thing that happens to LDS young men when they turn 12. Porter received the Aaronic Priesthood and was ordained to be a Deacon. Because Aaron's parents were traveling back from a grand daughter's baby blessing and because my Dad would be flying out the next morning, we seized a small window on Monday night and got to do the whole thing at home. We ate a special dinner on the nice china and then carried on with the blessing. Heavenly Father was especially generous in allowing this to be a peaceful evening. There always seems to be so much teasing and fighting and general silliness among our five kiddos but I was so thankful for that bit of reverence that made it even more meaningful.
Porter has definitely had a year of growing up. He is becoming more responsible, more interested in the way he looks:), and having opportunities to practice those Gospel Standards he's been learning about for years. We are proud of this (still!!) lego loving, big footed (Mom, Dad, Porter and Andrew all wear the same size), thoughtful and creative biggest brother in our family.

Oh, Porter you're so big and handsome! I remember visiting him at your apartment just a few days after he was born. I think Sam and Porter would get along smashingly. Sam loves rocks and minerals too. Happy Birthday, Porter!
Such a proud moment for you guys. You are raising such an amazing family Elizabeth.
