Cruisin' the Potomac

For Christmas, my parents gave us a coupon for babysitting so we could go on a date (besides the babysitting they do each time we go to the temple)-we have felt so spoiled!  Anyway, this dinner cruise on the Potomac came up on Groupon, so we snatched it up.
The boat is behind us in this picture.
This was our table and there was quite a nice view out the window behind Aaron instead of that glaring light.  The butter on the table looked like frosting and I was tempted to stick my finger in it multiple times.
We were served a four course meal over about a 2 hour period, so after we left port, we decided to sneak out and get a peak outside in between courses.  And I'm so glad we did-we were the only ones on the top deck for quite a while and it was beautiful to see the view and feel the breeze (very mild for the end of May) and just soak in the peaceful adult time.
The food was pretty good too-I had parmesean chicken and Aaron ate steak.

...as we passed the monuments...

One thing that was particularly cool was that we got to pass everything in the light on the way up the river, and in the dark (but lit up) on the way back down the river.  I think we went under 3 bridges, but we passed under so quickly, none of those pictures turned out.  Then this pirate ship came rockin' out of nowhere-packed with young adults and blasting some loud tunes.  We had a good chuckle as they passed just because they looked like they were having too much fun-kind of made us feel like old fogies:)  The last hour and a half they played music and we had a few slow dances-a perfect end to the evening.  Merry Christmas!
