The Bamboo Forest

I can't remember if we've ever documented the bamboo forest that is in one corner of our back yard.  Since the kids were out there having some kind of bamboo ceremony, this seemed like a good day to check it out.  Behind the shed there was a ton of bamboo when we moved in.  And we quickly learned that bamboo grows way fast.  In the spring, new bamboo shoots spring up and it amazing to watch them grow.  If you stay outside all day, you can almost watch it grow, it's so fast! Aaron has to thin it out every year.  It's kind of like a hide out, so it often draws the kids attention when they play outside and it's easy enough to snap pieces off to build things with also.

Anyway, the kids had built a fire-pit, benches and the neighbor boy was playing a curvy piece of bamboo like some kind of horn.  They were quite serious about the whole thing which made it very entertaining.
