Aaron took President's Day off and the weather was unusually beautiful so we decided to go on an adventure. About and hour and fifteen minutes southeast is the birthplace of George Washington at Montross, VA. Surprisingly it was closed, but we had a great time touring the plantation along the Potomac.
All the sheep were out grazing. The kids of course tried to talk to them, but funny enough, some of the lambs sounded more like kids pretending to talk like sheep than real sheep! Porter especially felt a connection to them because one kept coming up to smell his shoes-probably because they were still wet and stinky from playing in the creek the day before-but we just let him feel special:)
Next we hopped literally next door to Westmoreland State Park for some hiking and shark tooth searching.
The water was frigid, but I'm the only one who stayed dry. We all dug in the sand for quite a while with no luck. Aaron blew up his raft and tried to paddle around but he pretty much just spun in cold circles. The cliff was amazing!
By the end, people were so cold they were starting to get cranky, so we did an odd little feet washing station and trekked back. We will definitely be back again!
