Makes me a little teary looking at these photos now that our Kulbeth cousins have left, but oh what fun we had! Mother nature blessed us with some unusually mild weather this weekend in July-thank goodness when you're camping with so many little people. After a literally sleepless night with a toddler last time we went camping, I decided not to be quite as brave as the rest of them and ended up going home to let Adam and Leo sleep in their own beds. Dinner ended at 10pm(!) and breakfast was a little before 8am so we didn't miss much.
The adults stood around to watch Jared work his yummy dutch oven magic
The kids were thrilled to find lots of walnut 'rocks' on the ground-they quickly became a hot commodity.
Leo pretty much vegged-something about babies and the great outdoors--a good combo--until they get mad or tired or hungry that is:)
The fire must have been a little hot because the first round of chicken strips came off black, but by 8:30pm the kids were REALLY hungry so they tore into them.
Baseball...very unofficial. I think everyone got to hit and run no matter how many times it took.
After breakfast, we headed out for the canoeing portion of the trip. Long ago in Provo we went canoeing with the Bloomfields and almost tipped over when we gave some srtangers a lift from one side of the river to the other. I think I was pregnant with Porter at the time and now 5 kids and across the country later, we are making more fond canoeing memories. The only non-fond part was on the way home--one of the canoes didn't get tied down and cracked the windshield of Muna and Papa's van as we were leaving.
And here we have Jane and James' balancing trick
Daddy must have left all his balance in that tree on the lake because he tried another trick on the dock and ended up quite wet.

What a fun adventure!!!! You were great to even stay until 10 and then coming back at 8, that's awesome.
Aw, who could ever forget our canoeing trip down the murky Provo River? Is it bad that I am happy Aaron got wet this time? Kind of like a serves him right? I hear you about camping with babies. I vowed to never do that again after a completely sleepless night in the mountains of Heber, UT with Daniel in 2007. NEH-VER again!
