24 Hour Kulbeth Reunion

The day after Thanksgiving we drove up to Pennsylvania for a Kulbeth reunion which lasted almost 24 glorious hours.  We hadn't seen Aaron's brother, Jared's family for 3 and a half years.  Obviously the kids had grown a lot, but they were so thrilled to be together!  Candice's family had flown them out to Connecticut for the temple dedication because her father was put in the temple presidency.  They got to be in the celestial room while Pres. Eyring dedicated it-so cool.  Anyway, that's why they were on our side of the country so we HAD to get together.  The kids swam at the hotel pool and then we went to eat at Denny's.  Then back to the hotel for one of David's wonderful family trivia games.  The big kids had a hot chocolate club in the lobby until late, and Lillian and Anna chased each other around giving hugs.

The next morning we took family pictures and then took off for the priesthood restoration site.  The chapel there is half visitor's center and has interactive displays for the kiddos.  The monuments were grand and humbling.  We also got tours of the Hale house, that was pretty well to do, as well as Joseph and Emma's house.  A lot of translating took place here and naturally the restoration of the priesthood that they learned about through translation of the Book of Mormon.

We took a walk down the trail to the Susquehanna River.  I remember coming with my family when my youngest brother was a deacon and Aaron came with his family when he turned 12 as well.  Back then there was just one monument close to the river tho.  Fun to think there are 7 more Kulbeth priesthood holders in this young group.

We finished our almost 24 hours off with a late McDonald's lunch.  We sat in the hallway back by the bathrooms and it was funny because here we were hopping from table to table, in the aisles, and then crying and hugging difficult goodbyes and all the customers who were trying to get in and out of the bathrooms were annoyed cause our group was always in the way!  I thought it was funny.  Living far away from family is so hard sometimes, but we'll be thankful for the time we had even if it was only a few fantastic hours.
